WIND BLOWS RACHAEL TAYLOR OUT OF TOP 20 IN LOUISIANA
Scots Rachael Taylor (North Carolina State) and Gemma Dryburgh (Tulane) finished T23 and T33 respectively in a field of 79 players at the LSU Classic, won by American Curtis Cup player Emily Tubert on Sunday at the University Club, Baton Rouge in Louisiana.
After a very windy day, Tubert notched a 54-hole total of level par 216 over the 6,305yd course with three rounds of 72, excellent scoring in the conditions which saw players struggle to cope with the elements over the final round.
Tubert won by fifve shots.
Rachael Taylor, whose father is a club pro in Germany, shot 75, 73 and 81 for 229 and a share of 23rd place. She had been joint 13th after two rounds.
Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh scored 76, 77 and 80 for 233.
Alison Knowles (Louisiana-Monroe) from Mexborough, England shot 78, 79 an d77 for 234 and a T36 finish.
Arkansas (899) scored a double whammy by also winning the team title, 10 shots ahead of runners-up Tulane with Louisiana State (912) third.
North Carolina State (930) finished T10 and Louisiana-Monroe (966) 13th in a field of 14 teams.
