FIGHTING SCOTS GALLANT LOSERS IN MARY MCKENNA TROPHY MATCH
Ireland's team of senior women's amateur internationals duly retained the Mary McKenna Trophy at West Kilbride Golf Club, Ayrshire today - but the Scotland vets' team nearly staged a last-day revival reminiscent of the European come-from-behind win in the Ryder Cup at Medinah.
Starting the day trailing by 3pt, having earned only half a point from the first-day four-balls, Scotland played some great golf to win five of the eight singles.
In the end, the Irish won by only one point, 6 1/2 to 5 1/2.
