NEWS RELEASE
An Aberdeen retail and hospitality business has raised £660 for a leading cancer campaign.
Gamola Golf, a large golf club, equipment, clothing and accessories store, hosted a ladies’ fashion show at its Market Street premises – with all proceeds going to cancer support charity Maggie’s Aberdeen.
Around 50 ladies from across the North-east attended the event, held at the Locker Room – a bar, restaurant and virtual golf venue situated above Gamola Golf.
A total of £620 was raised from the proceeds of a charity raffle. This included a set of Wilson ladies’ irons, a Ping ladies driver and a Callaway golf bag. A further £40 was raised from a nearest the pin competition.
Graeme Masterton, owner of Gamola Golf, said: “It’s proved to be a very successful night and everyone seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We’re always eager to support local causes and are pleased to help Maggie’s Aberdeen continue with their excellent work.”
The evening’s entertainment featured models showcasing the retail store’s new ladies' spring/summer collection on the catwalk.
Guests enjoyed a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival, a buffet and discounts across a wide range of ladies’ clothing and accessories available in the retail store. There was also the opportunity to seek expert advice on the latest products and try out the venue’s five large virtual golf simulators.
Maggie's and the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation (EMF) are involved in an ambitious fund-raising campaign to bring a cancer support centre to Aberdeen. Once opened, Maggie’s Aberdeen will help families affected by the disease across the whole of Grampian.
