NOBODY WINS THE CAR FOR A HOLE IN ONE AT DEESIDE FIREST HOLE TODAY

Up for grabs at the first hole (154yd) at Deeside GC today.

Nobody won the £20,000 Arnold Clark Aberdeen-sponsored new Kia Car for a hole in one at the opening hole (154yd from the yellow tees) at today's fourth event on the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Scottish Ladies Open Tour event, the Saltire Energy Classic 2 on a very sunny day at the Deeside Golf Club course in Aberdeen's western suburbs.
Jess Meek, the 18-year-old Carnoustie Ladies player of the moment - an amateur never out of the first three in the first three PLGC SLOT events at Dalmahoy, Ratho Park and Trump Internationl had the honour - but the new car - of having her tee shot finish closest to the pin ... about 3ft short of the flagstick. She holed the putt for a birdie 2 start.
Only one other birdie 2 was recorded in the field of 23 and that was by another amateur, Kelly Guthrie from Oldmeldrum. She hit a five-iron tee shot into the wind and her ball came to rest some 4ft past the hole. She too holed the putt.
And so the three hole in one prizes at the first four events on the PLGC SLOT have gone unclaimed - at Dalamhoy in Event 1 (sponsored by Arnold Clark Edinburgh), at Trump International in Event 3 (sponsored by the Atholl Hotel) and now at Deeside (sponsored by Arnold Clark Aberdeen).
Paul Lawrie, who flew home to Bieldside - he lives less than a mile from the Deeside club where he is an honorary member - from China last night, was playing with guests today but he had a chat with Tournament Director Nicola Melville.
