Sally Watson, the leading Scot in the Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings, has informed the SLGA and the LGU that she does not wish to be considered for team selection.
The Edinburgh-born Curtis Cup player in the 2008 and 2010 matches has completed her four years at Stanford University, California and the expectation is that she sees her future in golf as a tour professional.
Sally, pictured right, who was Scottish U18 girls champion in 2005, when she beat Carly Booth in the final, will have her 22nd birthday on July 10.
She has not entered next month's British women's open amateur championship, in which she was the leading qualifier for the match-plays stages at Carnoustie last June.
Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh, pictured left, a student at Tulane University, New Orleans, will also miss the British championship at Machynys Peninsula, South Wales from June 11 to 15, as she will be attending her university's "summer school."
In the absence of Sally Watson, Gemma is the top Scot in the World Amateur Rankings available for selection to the Scotland squad for the European women's team championship at Fulford GC, Yorkshire from July 9 to 13.
The current top 10 Scots in the WAGR are:
1 Sally Watson, 2 Gemma Dryburgh, 3 Jess Meek, 4 Eilidh Briggs, 5 Alyson McKechin, 6 Rachael Watton, 7 Gabriella MacDonald, 8 Lauren Whyte, 9 Jane Turner, 10 Clara Young.
