USC WOMEN CLOSE REGULAR US COLLEGE SEASON AT NO. 1

Newly crowned Pac-12 champion USC closed out the 2012-13 regular season in a familiar spot: atop the Golf World/WGCA
women's Division I coaches' poll. The Trojans earned 17 of the
available 19 first-place votes and now prepare to compete in this week's
NCAA West Regional as the No. 1 seed at Stanford (Calif.) GC.
Defending NCAA champion Alabama held on to the No. 2 spot in the poll, earning the remaining two first-place votes. The Crimson Tide are the No. 1 seed in the East Regional and have won five titles this season as well, including the SEC crown.
Duke, the ACC champion and No. 1 seed in the NCAA Central Regional, remained ranked third with Oklahoma and UCLA rounding out the top five.
A couple of stats for you as the final poll of the season is release:
* USC has now been ranked No. 1 for seven consecutive polls and 12 since the poll was resumed in 2001-02. That ties Arizona State for third most times being ranked No. 1, trailing Duke (41) and UCLA (20).
* USC has been ranked in the top five in every poll since October 2011 (15 straight) and been ranked in the top 10 in every poll since November 2006 (59 straight). Both are the longest current streaks in D-I golf.
* 35 different schools found their way into the top 25 during the 2012-13 season.
* 14 schools were in the top 25 in all nine polls during the 2012-13 season: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue, USC, Vanderbilt and Virginia
* Of the 14 schools ranked all nine times, three never were ranked inside the top 10: Georgia (best ranking: 11), N.C. State (best ranking: 12) and Oklahoma State (best ranking: 12)
Nova Southeastern was the unanimous choice for the No. 1 ranking in the final women's Division II coaches' poll of the spring. The Sharks earned all 15 first-place votes after winning six tournament titles in nine starts, including the Sunshine State Conference title. They will be attempting to claim an record fifth straight D-II national title during the NCAA Women's Championship May 15-18 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
St. Edward's remained No. 2 in the poll, with Lynn and Rollins holding on to their No. 3 and 4 ranking. Rounding out the top five is Florida Southern.
