ALISON AND HEATHER DEFENDING CHAMPIONS AT WEST LINTON
NEWS RELEASE FROM THE SLGA
Heather Anderson (Blairgowrie) and Alison
Bartlett (Royal Dornoch) are the defending champions at the Scottish Senior
Ladies’ Amateur Championship at West Linton from July 2-5.
Bartlett defends the 36-hole stroke-play title
played over 36 holes on the opening two days. The top 16 then go forward to the
matchplay knockout and Anderson will be aiming to make it two in a row
following her victory at Kemnay 12 months ago.
The backmarker with a 1.8 handicap is the SLGA’s
representative to the Ladies’ Golf Union – Lorna Bennett
(Ladybank) – and two strong candidates are the Tain sisters, Mary Smith and
Anne Ryan.
The 2011 winners from Portpatrick are also in
the field. Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie) was the stroke-play champion and
Noreen Fenton (Dunbar) claimed the match-play crown.
The Championship has attracted a strong field of
83 for the test over the picturesque Borders course.
