CONNOR AND CONNIE WIN PAUL LAWRIE SCHOOLS TITLES
Connor Syme, son of Dumfries and County Golf Club professional Stuart Syme, today repeated last year's individual capture of the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish schoolboys' championship at Murrayshall Hotel golf courses near Perth.
Syme, whose father is also a previous Scottish schoolboys champion had rounds of 68 over the No 1 course and 65 over the shorter No 2 course for a aggregate of 133. Connor won by five strokes from Highland's Andrew Burgess, who had a pair of 69s for 138.
Third was Niall McMullen (Fife) on 140 (74-66).
George Burns (East Renfrewshire) received a special award for a hole in one on the Murrayshall course.
Dumfries and Galloway totalled 284, the same as East Renfrewshire. The title was retained by Dumfries and Galloway on a card countback.
East Dunbartonshire finished third on 290.
Troon's Connie Jaffrey won the schoolgirls' individual title with a very good total of 136, made up of a pair of 68s. She won by eight strokes from Monifieth's Heather Munro (144) with Minto's Tara MacTaggart third on 146.
