MERCHISTON WIN NETT TROPHY AT THE SHIRE, LONDON SCHOOLS OPEN

NEWS RELEASE

Birkdale school players Barclay Brown, Elliott Brown and George Roebuck took the trophy at the Shire London on Monday 24 June along with GALVIN GREEN waterproof tops. The boys who were a fairly last minute entry due to a drop out due to injury from another school, were delighted to make the trip down to London and win this event. The Boys scored 77, 82 and 85 gross on the Seve  Ballesteros course.

Sixty students and twenty teachers took part in the event from 32 schools across the UK

Birkdale won the competition by a comfortable 7 shots from Stamford, Reeds and Bournemouth Collegiate who were all on 166. The competition format was best 2 scores from each team gross and nett. Individual trophies and prizes were awarded to gross and nett players in 3 age categories.

Merchiston won the nett trophy  with a combined nett score of 140, The Individual trophy went to Alfie Fox  from Whitgift on countback.
