MICHAEL LAWRIE WINS ABERDEEN SCHOOLS STROKE-PLAY TITLE

MICHAEL LAWRIE and CONOR FORBES with their trophies

Paul Lawrie's younger son Michael, a pupil at Robert Gordon’s College, won the Paul Lawrie Foundation-sponsored Aberdeen schools’ stroke-play golf champion in very difficult playing conditions at Murcar Links (on Thursday).
Five-handicapper Michael shot a four-over-par 75 to win the Scratch Trophy by four strokes from team mates Curtis Stephen, Dylan Smith and Conor Forbes.

Lawrie was level par for his front nine with two birdies - at the fourth and fifth - negated by dropped shots at the seventh and eighth. He then covered the difficult back nine in a creditable four over for a winning score of 75.

The Paul Lawrie Girls’ Rosebowl was won by Sarah Black (Robert Gordon’s College). A net score of 72 (off her 17 handicap) gave her a comfortable winning margin of four shots.
There was further success for Robert Gordon’s when Conor Forbes picked up the Paul Lawrie Schools’ (0-12 Handicap) Trophy with a net 70.

Aiden Combe (Cults Academy) easily retained the Paul Lawrie Schools’ Scratch (13 to 24 Handicap) Trophy with a seven over par 77 and a five shot cushion over Robert Gordon’s, Cameron Black.  There was a first success for Albyn in the schools’ golf, when Alistair Kinghorn won the Paul Lawrie Handicap (13 to 24 Handicap) Trophy with a net 61.
