Comrie's Carly Booth and Catriona Matthew from North Berwick will be the only Scots in the field of 144 for the Ricoh Women's British Open championship which tees off at the Old Course, St Andrews on Thursday.
There were six Scots in the Final Qualifying field of 90 players at Kingsbarns today (Monday) - and only young Carly came through under severe pressure.
She was involved in a evening play-off for the 12 players who scored three under par 6.
Only the last four places of the 16 qualifying spots were available to them.
Carly rose to the occasion like a trooper.
She birdied the par-4 first play-off hole, as did Louise Larsson (Sweden) and Tania Elosegui (Spain).
Catriona Matthew, a former winner of the title, was already in the championship field.
The 16th place boiled down to a shoot-out between Woburn amateur Lauren Taylor, at 16 the youngest ever winner of the British womens amateur at Royal Portrush two years ago, and Sweden's Camilla Lennarth. They both birdied the second play-off hole to eliminate the others.
Lennarth then claimed the last spot with Taylor now the first reserve.Laetitia Beck, the Israeli amateur, is second reserve; Eleanor Givens, the English pro who has played on the Paul Lawrie Tour, is third reserve, and American Mallory Fraich is the fourth reserve.
Pamela Pretswell and Kelsey MacDonald, with two-under-par 70s apiece, failed by one shot to get into the play-off. It was as close as that on a perfect day for low scoring as Kingsbarns missed the periodic heavy showers that fell on the players practising at the Old Course.
Michele Thomson and Vikki Laing both had 72s and Germany-based Scots pro's young daughter Fiona Liddell shot a 78
