Top seed Jen Saxton (Kinross) was beaten in the quarter-finals of the North of Scotland women's amateur championship at Deeside Golf club this afternoon.
The 16-year-old went down by 2 and 1 to No 8 qualifier, Jackie Brown (Monifieth) who now plays the only host county representative in the last four, Claire Prouse (Murcar Links), pictured below.
Prouse, 12th of the 16 match play qualifiers. herself played the biggest part in the removal of Aberdeenshire contenders by beating Rachel Polson (Peterculter) 6 and 5 in the morning, then home club player Megan Clyne by 2 and 1 to reach the semi-finals.
Polson was the No 5 seed and Clyne the No 4.
The second semi-final will be an Angus versus Perth and Kinross affair. Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir), Angus champion several times in her heyday and beaten finalist by Sheena Wood in this championship at Blairgowrie 12 months ago, will play Nicola Robertson (Dunblane New).
Robertson squeezed out the No 2 seed and Aberdeenshire champion, Sammy Leslie (Aberdeen Ladies) at the 22nd hole of a titanic struggle in the heat.
Leslie was four up at one stage so it was quite a rally by Robertson to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
