CLAIRE V NICOLA IN NORTH FINAL AT DEESIDE

Claire Prouse (Murcar Links) and Dunblane New's Nicola Robertson won this morning's semi-finals of the North of Scotland women's amateur golf championship at Deeside Golf Club.
They meet in the 18-hole final, teeing off at 2.15 this afternoon.

Claire, the No 12 seed, beat Jackie Brown (Monifieth), conqueror of No 1 qualifier, Jen Saxton (Kinross) earlier in the tournament, by 3 and 2.
Both Claire and Jackie played good golf at the gallop. They completed the 16 holes in little more than two hours!

Nicola. the No 7 seed, beat former Angus county champion and beaten finalist in the North of Scotland championship last year, Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir) by one hole.
In a squeaky tight match, Nicola edged ahead at the 16th and halved the last two holes for victory.

In yesterday's quarter-finals, Robertson came back from four down to beat Aberdeenshire county champion and No 2 seed Sammy Leslie (Murcar Links) at the 22nd.
The handicap championship final will be an all-Deeside club affair between teenager Lauren Watson and Alison Graham.

In the semi-finals, Laren beat Maureen Gillan (Murcar Links) by 4 and 3 while Alison beat another Deeside member, Fiona Hay by 3 and 2.
