JUNIOR SOLHEIM CUP SELECTION HAS ITS DOWN SIDE FOR HALL, LAW AND RATCLIFFE

Georgia Hall, Bronte Law and Amber Ratcliffe are in the Europe team, announced an hour or two ago, to play the United States in the Junior Solheim Cup match at Inverness Golf Club, Colorado on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 13 and 14.
Hooray? Well, not really in terms of diminishing one, maybe two, maybe three events on the Ladies Golf Union Calendar.
All three will definitely miss the British girls championship, which is on that same week at Fairhaven GC, Lytham St Annes.
That is a great pity for Georgia Hall who would have been the defending champion. She currently holds the British women's and girls' title .. and no-one has ever done that before.
Depending on when Hall, Law and Ratcliffe have to make the trip with the Europe team to Colorado, they could also be unavailable  to play for defending champions England in the Girls' Home Internationals the previous week - Wednesday to Friday, August 7-8-9 at St Anne's Old Links, Lytham St Annes.
Traditionally, the Junior Solheim Cup teams go on to the Solheim Cup match itself as guests and spectators later in the week.
If that is the case in Colorado next month, then Hall, Law and Ratcliffe might even miss the British women's stroke-play at Prestwick Golf Club the week AFTER the Solheim Cup - Wednesday to Friday, August 21 to 23.
As Georgia Hall's father said to me, in an E-mail, "It could be an awful rush to get to Prestwick from the United States" ... especially if the European Junior Solheim Cup team don't fly back until the Monday, two days before the "British" stroke-play starts at the Ayrshire venue.
Junior Solheim Cup? Selection undoubtedly means a lot to the girls themselves but it's a hybrid tournament for amateur girls understudying what is a match for lady professionals.
Same goes for the Junior Ryder Cup which includes girls.
That's my view, anyway
