KIRAN MATHARU WINS £750 TOP PRIZE ON PAUL LAWRIE TOUR

Leeds-based Kiran Matharu, a winner on the Ladies European Tour, showed her class in winning the Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Open Tour 18-hole competition over the Torrance Course, at Fairmont St Andrews today (Monday).
After fog threatened the start, the players  made the most of the afternoon sunshine with quite a few birdies.
Kiran, 24, who was English women's amateur champion in 2006 and a Curtis Cup player at that time, shot a two-under-par 70 with birdies at the long third, short eighth, long 12th, 16th and long 18th in halves of 36-34 which earned her £750.
"I played well to have five birdies and I enjoyed the course even though I did bogey the second, ninth and 13th!" said Kiran.
Runner-up was among the last group to finish, Pamela Feggans from Doon Valley, Ayshire, with a 71.
Pamela made her score with an outward 33 which included a chip-in for an eagle 2 at the seventh and birdies at the long third, fourth and short eighth. She three-putted the first for a bogey and also dropped a shot at the sixth.
"I thought the inward half was a lot more difficult. I had birdie chances but could not hole any of the putts and I bogeyed the 11th and 13th," said Pamela who earned £400.
Third best score in a field of 19 was a par 72 from Yorkshire amateur Charlotte Austwick from Fulford. She has recently graduated and is going to spend the next year as a full-time amateur with a view to turning professional.
Charlotte, who earned a £400 voucher, birdied the sixth, seventh and ninth in an outward 33 but could not add to that sub-par total in an inward 39.
St Andrews student Gabrielle Macdonald (Craigielaw) also did well to finish joint fifth on 74 alongside professionals heather MacRae (Gleneagles) and Kary McNicoll (Carnoustie).
Olympic Games bronze medal-winning GB and I women's hockey team member Chloe Rogers from Braintree, Essex did not do herself justice with a round of 84.
West Kilbride-based English tour pro Lisa Shervill won the prize for the longest drive at the 18th.
