BECKY BREWERTON MAKES DEBUT ON PAUL LAWRIE LADIES TOUR AT DRUMPELLIER NEXT TUESDAY
Past Solheim Cup player Becky Brewerton from Wales will make her debut on the Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Tour in next Tuesday's event over 18 holes at Drumpellier Golf Club, Coatbridge.
"I'm looking to build up by confidence again and playing on the Scottish Tour seems a very good way to start it," said Becky who will be 31 on October 20.
She's been a professional since 1903 after a stellar career as an amateur which saw her win the Welsh girls and women's amateur championships and represent Great Britain and Ireland in Curtis Cup and Vagliano Trophy matches.
At the start of the 2013 season, Becky had won more than one million Euros
2009 has been her most successful season as a pro. That year she finished third in the LET money list
She has won twice on the LET and played in the 2007 Solheim Cup match at Halmstaad, Sweden.
The prize fund for this Paul Lawrie Tour event will be £3,000, of which £1,000 has been contributed by local print label specialist company Gavin Watson Printers.
But if Brewerton, as a Ladies European Tour member, thinks it will be easy pickings for her, the "Scottish Brigade" of Pamela Pretswell, Gemma Webster, Michele Thomson, Heather Stirling, Vikki Laing, Jane Turner and Laura Murray will have their own ideas about that!
Any late entries will boost the prize list as all entry fees go
directly into the prize fund.
Amateurs are limited to vouchers with a limit of of £500 in value.
Late entries will be accepted from lady professionals or amateur girls/ladies/senior ladies with single-figure handicaps. The entry fee is £50.
To encourage late entries from female amateurs with handicaps nearer the 9 mark, there will be nett score prizes at the Drumpellier event which is the second leg of a Paul Lawrie Tour double-header in the Glasgow area next week.
The first leg is also over 18 holes at Haggs Castle on Monday when the first tee time is also 12.30. At Haggs Castle, the prize fund will again be an estimated £3,00 with the Succession Group - sponsors of Gemma Webster - contributing £1,000.
