DONNA POCOCK WINS BANCHORY OPEN FOR THIRD TIME
Aberdeenshire county team player Donna Pocock won the Banchory women's open tournament for a third time on Saturday.
The Murcar Links player, winner in 2009 and 2010, shot a five-over-par 76 to win by a single stroke from Louise Graham (Carnoustie Ladies) with Newmachar's Eileen Cooper third on 78.
Louise led at the turn, out in 39 to Donna's 40 after Pocock dropped five shots to par with a 7-4-6 run through the sixth (par 5), seventh (par 3) and eighth (par 4).
But Pocock birdied the long 10th and, after bogeying the 13th and 14th, finished well by covering the last four holes in one under par, thans to a birdie 2 at the short 16th for 36 home to Graham's 38.
Louise bogeyed the 18th when a par would have tied Pocock's 76
Consolation for the Carnoustie player was that her net 70 off seven of a handicap won the Silver Division top handicap prize.
Lorraine Harrison (Banchory), playing off 23, won the Bronze handicap top award with a net 71.
