ENGLAND NAME TEAM FOR UNDER-16 BOYS' INT3RNATIONAL AT ST ANDREWS
England will field an experienced ten-strong squad, all having been capped previously, for the annual under 16 international against Scotland at St Andrews on Sunday 6th October. The team is: Jordan Boulton (Notts), Will Enefer (Wrekin), Lewis George (Delamere Forest, Cheshire), Harry Hall (West Cornwall), Chris Handy (South Moor, Durham), Matty Lamb (Hexham), Louis Lazarus (Romford), Jamie Li (Bath), Marco Penge (Worthing, Sussex) and Billy Spooner (Boston, Lincolnshire). Six of those selected, Enefer, George, Hall, Handy, Lazarus and Li, were in the team that beat Wales under 16s 10-2 at Oswestry recently. Boulton, winner of the Douglas Johns Trophy in 2011, was capped as a 14 year old in the under 16 international with Spain that year and finished tied sixth in the 2013 McGregor Trophy. Enefer made his international debut in the Welsh match at Oswestry, having also tied sixth in the McGregor Trophy, while George made his debut against Wales last year and has finished equal fourth in the North of England under 16 Championship and the Junior Champion of Champions Tournament. Hall also debuted against Wales last year, was eighth in the North of England under 16 Championship and ninth in the Junior Champion of Champions while Handy was another to make his England debut at Oswestry, having topped the Northern Group Boys Qualifying and finished seventh in the Junior County Champion of Champions. Lamb (image copyright Leaderboard Photography), runner-up in the English under 14 Championship last year, also debuted against Wales in 2012 and was capped against Spain recently, while Li, another to earn his first cap in the recent match against Wales, lost a playoff for the English under 18 Championship at West Lancs this year. Penge, fourth on the Titleist/FootJoy England Boys Order of Merit, has enjoyed a string of victories this year including the English under 15 and under 16 tirles, the Fairhaven and Douglas Johns Trophies and the South Region Schools Championship. He was also runner-up in the Irish Boys Open Championship, was capped by England in the European Boys Team Championships and the Boys Home Internationals and represented GB&I in the Jacques Leglise Trophy. Lazarus also made his England debut in the recent match with Wales having finished fifth in the McGregor Trophy at Seacroft and equal 14th in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters. Spooner is another who debuted against Spain last year when he also played against Wales and Scotland while he also played against Spain recently. This year, he has finished runner-up in the McGregor Trophy and the recent Canadian Junior Challenge. The match against Scotland comprises five foursomes and ten singles. Eight of the team, Boulton, Enefer, George, Hall, Handy, Lamb, Penge and Spooner, will also form the team to play Ireland at Portmarnock on 12th – 13th October .That contest will feature four foursomes on day one and eight singles on the following morning. SCOTLAND TEAM FOR UNDER-16 INTERNATIONAL The Scotland side has been named for the annual Under-16 meeting with England, taking place at The Castle Course in St Andrews on Sunday 6 October.
