EUAN WALKER TIES FOR SECOND PLACE IN MISSOURI COLLEGE EVENT
Euan Walker from Ayrshire, in one of his first competitions as a student at the University of Missouri, finished joint second and helped his college to take the team honours in the Columbia Regional Preview over 54 holes at The Club @ Old Hawthorne, Columbia in Missouri.
Walker, pictured, shot 73, 66 and 71 for a six-under-par total of 210 over a longish course of 7,221yd with a par of 72.
He finished two shots behind team-mate Emilio Cuartero who scored 68, 67 and 70 for 205.
England's Seb Crookall Nixon, a student at San Francisco University, finished T9 in a field of 65 players. He shot 74-70-71 for 215.
Londoner Ross Dixon, a junior (third year) student at Nebraska, finished T22 on 222 with rounds of 74, 76 and 72.
Missouri (852) won the team event from Iowa State (857) with Austin Peay State (870) third and San Francisco (876) fourth in a field of 11 teams.
KYLE GODSMAN TIES FOR FOURTH AT
KIAWAH ISLAND
Scot Kyle Godsman from Morayshire, a student at the University of South Carolina-Aiken, tied for fourth place on 143, five shots behind the winner, in the Kiawah Island Invitational over 36 holes at the Cougar Point course (6,875yd, par 72).
Godsman, pictured left, had rounds of 71 and 72 for 143.
Winner Connor Godsey (North Alabama) had a pair of 69s to win by four shots with a six-under 138 aggregate.
Cameron Buist from Stirlingshire, a freshman at Belmont Abbey College, shared 21st place on 148 with scores of 72-76.
Fraser O'Connor (Newberry) from Banchory finished joint 40th on 152 with rounds of 73 and 79.
Dundee's Matthew Reid, a Belmont Abbey College team-mate of Buist, finished T47 on 153 with scores of 77 and 76.
A field of 85 players took part./
North Alabama (580) won the team title by a single stroke from South Carolina-Aiken.
Newberry (609) came 12th and Belmont Abbey College (612) 13th.
SCOTS TRIO DOWN THE FIELD AT HATTIESBURG
Three Scots on the Louisiana-Monroe University roster, Greg Smail, pictured, a sophomore from Musselburgh, Calum Hill, a freshman from North Berwick, and Charlie Macneal, a senior from Ayrshire, finished T26, T43 and T65 respectively in the Sam Hall Intercollegiate at Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Winner of the 54-hole event was Joe Sakulpulphaisan (Mississippi State) with a very good aggregate of 17-under-par 199.
Smail shot 67-69-78 for 214; Hill 73-68-76 for 217, and Macneal 74-71-78 for 222.
UL-Lafayette (837) won the team title by a stroke from Mississippi State (838)_ with South Alabama (843) third. Louisiana-Monroe finished 14th iwth a total of 874.
EASON SECOND IN ADAMS CUP OF NEWPORT
Palmer Cup team player Gregory Eason from Leicestershire, one of the most successful British and Irish students currently at US colleges, finished second in the Adams Cup of Newport tournament at Newport National Golf Club, Middleton, Rhode Island.
Six-footer Eason, pictured left, shot 66, 72 and 73 for 211 but was well beaten - six shots was the margin - by the winner Ryan Fricker (Bethune-Cookman) who had scores of 67, 66 and 72 for 11-under-par 205 over a long course, 7244yd with a par of 72.
Eason's performance, however, did help Central Florida to win the team title by 16 shots from second-;placed Bethune Cookman in a field of 16 teams.
