NEWS RELEASE FROM THE LADIES GOLF UNION

Ladies British Open Amateur Champion Georgia Hall is the 2013 winner of the inaugural LGU Order of Merit.

The 17-year-old Remedy Oak Golf Club, Dorset, member gains full exemption to next year’s Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale in July 2014 provided she remains an amateur at least until that championship has been played.

Georgia says there is no possibility of her turning professional and forfeiting that place among the best lady professionals in the world.

“I played in the Ricoh Women’s British Open over the Old Course, St Andrews this past summer and it was just about the highlight of the year for me. I really enjoyed and I can’t wait to experience it again,” says Georgia who shared the leading amateur award there with Lydia Ko (New Zealand), the world’s No 1 amateur.

The LGU Order of Merit runs on a 52 week cycle and uses information extracted from the World Amateur Golf Rankings with the agreement of the R and A.
