GOOD START BY EMILY AIRD FOR NEWMAN UNIVERSITY, KANSAS

Freshman Emily Aird from Perth made a solid start for Newman University, Kansas  in her first competitive appearance on the US women's college golf circuit, the Rocky Mountains Athletic Championship No 1 competition at Desert Hawk Golf Club, Pueblo, Colorado.
Emily shot a pair of 77s for a total of 154, finished joint 10th overall in a field of 53. She was the second highest finisher of the five Newman University players.
And the Scot's performance helped Newman to finish third in a field of 15 teams.
Emily is already seeing a fair bit of America. Her next event will take her to the state of Texas.

PUEBLO, Colo.- In their season opener, the Newman women's golf team took third place out of fifteen teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Championship, hosted by Colorado State University at Pueblo at Desert Hawk golf course in Pueblo, Colorado.  
Junior Kendall Anderson led the Jets with a two-day total of 146 (72-74).

After an opening round of 310, the Jets found themselves five shots out of the lead held by CSU-Pueblo. Sunday's soft greens played favourably for Newman, and the Jets shot a 306 total to clench third place. 

Junior Kendall Anderson took fourth place individually with a two-over par total of 146 (72-74).  Freshman Emily Aird posted a pair of 77s for a 154. Sophomore Courtney Zietsman was close behind with a 155 (79-76).  
Freshman Alex Patton posted a 161 (82-79), and freshman Kathy Helms rounded out the Jets with a 163 (82-81). Individual Marisa Delgado also shot a  163 (80-83) in her season opener.

As a team, Newman finished third out of fifteen teams with a 616 (310-306). The Jets were nine shots off first place team CSU-Pueblo (607) and 16 shots ahead of fourth place Adams State (632).

The Jets return to action next Monday as they travel to San Angelo, Texas to compete in the Concho River Classic hosted by San Angelo State University.
