IRISH LEAD CHARGE IIN STIRLING INVITATIONAL AT DUNDONALD

NEWS RELEASE FROM DR ROB MACPHERSON

3rd Annual University of Stirling Golf Tournament

9-11 September 2013

Dundonald Links, Ayrshire

Day one of the 3rd Annual University of Stirling 54-hole Golf Tournament saw good shooting on the 7,100 yards Black Course at the beautiful Dundonald Links in Ayrshire.
In almost perfect conditions and on pristine fairways and silky smooth greens, the morning starters had the best of the draw and University of Ulster’s James Lindsay took full advantage by shooting a one under par 71; matched not long after by Daragh Coughlan of Trinity College, Dublin.
The competition – which includes teams and individual players from the USA, Canada, Eire, Northern Ireland and England as well as Scotland – is in its third year and the host university’s formidable triumvirate of SGU 2013 Order of Merit winner Jack McDonald, 2013 Scottish Amateur Champion Zander Culverwell and 2013 Scottish University Champion Mathias Eggenberger follow in closely on 73, along with SGU guest team member Connor Syme.
In the Ladies section, Sinead Sexton from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth is tied for the lead with Ashleigh Greenham representing Independent Schools and one ahead of her teammate, Ellie Goodall. The competition continues tomorrow and concludes on Wednesday.
