KATHERINE RUSSELL MAKES DEBUT FOR ENGLAND SENIORS' TEAM

NEWS RELEASE FROM ENGLAND GOLF

New cap Katherine Russell will join the England team for next week’s Senior Women’s Home Internationals at Llandudno, Wales, from October 1-3.

Katherine, (Image © Leaderboard Photography) from Royal Ashdown Forest in Sussex, was the 2012 British senior champion. She will join the team which recently won the bronze medal for England at the senior women’s European team championship.


The full team is: Caroline Berry (Bromborough), Sue Dye (Delamere Forest), Amanda Mayne (Saltford), Janet Melville (Sherwood Forest), Chris Quinn (Hockley), Cath Rawthore (Sale) and Katherine Russell (Royal Ashdown Forest). The reserves are: Karen Lobb (Northants County) and Felicity Christine (Woking)
England were runners-up in the 2012 Women’s Home Internationals. The team will be aiming to regain the title they have previously won on seven occasions since the competition began in 2003.
 

The players:

Caroline Berry (Bromborough, Cheshire) is a past winner of the English senior amateur and of the English women’s stroke play championships. Most recently she was third in this year’s senior stroke play and fourth in the British seniors.

Sue Dye (Delamere Forest, Cheshire) won the English senior stroke play title for the second time in June. She has also twice been the English senior amateur champion and runner-up in the British.

Amanda Mayne (Saltford, Somerset) is a past Somerset champion, the current county senior champion and made her senior international debut last year. This season her results have included eighth place in the British seniors.

Janet Melville (Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire) is the English senior amateur champion and has twice won the senior stroke play title. Her personal roll of honour includes three British ladies’ championships: the open, the stroke play and the match play.

Chris Quinn (Hockley, Hampshire) has won six English senior titles and one British senior championship. This year she was runner-up in both the English amateur and stroke play championships.

Cath Rawthore (Sale, Cheshire) is a Cheshire county player who is playing her first season of senior golf. She reached the semi-finals of the English senior amateur and was 12th in the senior stroke play and 10th in the recent British senior championship.

Katherine Russell (Royal Ashdown Forest, Sussex) won the 2012 British senior championship, which she added to three Sussex titles: the ladies’, the seniors and the foursomes championship. She was fifth this year when defending her British title and won the 50-54 age category.
