KATIE REID MAKES TOP 20 IN FIRST US COLLEGE OUTING OF 2013-14 SEASON
Katie Reid, from Elmwood and Dundee, a student at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, finished 16th in the a field of 38 behind Melani Santi (Jacksonville State), the runaway winner of the Chris Bannister Classic at Silver Lakes Golf Club, Glencoe in Alabama.
Katie. pictured while playing in a Paul Lawrie Tour event this summer, had scores of 83, 80 and 76 for a total of 239.
Melani shot 72-67-70 for seven-under-209 and won by 14 strokes, surely one of the biggest margins ever in US college golf.
SEAN DECIDES TWO YEARS
AT US COLLEGE IS ENOUGH
Sean Lawrie (Portlethen) is not returning to the States after two years at Midland College, Texas.
"I could have transferred to a university that does four-year terms but, quite honestly, the studies were hard work," said Paul Lawrie's nephew.
"I am going to play amateur golf full time for a year or so and then consider entering PGA training."
