Nineteen year-old English amateur Lauren Taylor triumphed at the Norrporten Ladies Open, finishing at one under par to win by one shot from the Netherland’s Chrisje de Vries and Sohvi Harkonen from Finland.
With heavy overnight rain making the Sundsvalls Golf Course extremely wet, the final round was played over a composite nine holes twice with a par of 74.
Taylor started her round with bogeys on the 2nd and 3rd holes but recovered well, playing the remaining 15 holes in four under par, with birdies on the 4th, 7th, 11th and 14th holes.
"I think have her sister, Charlotte, on the bag made a difference," said a delighted dad, Martin Taylor.
The young player from Rugby has decided not to continue with her US college scholarship at Baylor University and plans to play the remainder of the LET Access Series season, with her aim to qualify for the Ladies European Tour next year.
Spain’s Mireia Prat finished in a tie for fourth place with Linda Henriksson from Finland at one over par. The Spaniard’s strong performance took her back to the top of the LETAS Order of Merit.
Sweden’s Lina Boqvist, topped the Nordea Tour ranking and earned a wild card to the LET's Helsinborg Open being played next week at Vasatorp Golf Club, on 5-8 September.
The next LET Access Series event, the Ladies Norwegian Challenge will take place at Hauger Golf Club, near Oslo, Norway from the September 18 to 20.
