SHANNON MCWILLIAM WINS ABERDEENSHIRE GIRLS TITLE

 Scottish Under-14 girls golf champion Shannon McWilliam celebrated her call-up to the Aberdeenshire team for the Scottish women's county finals, with a sparkling sub-par display to win the Aberdeenshire Under-18 girls' championship at windswept Banchory Golf Club today (Sunday).
Shannon, now 14, was three under par in beating title-holder and Aboyne clubmate Kimberley Beveridge by 7 and 6 in the final.
McWilliam never looked back after winning the first four holes to be four up at the turn. 
 She quickly finished the match by winning the 10th, 11th and 12th against an opponent who had won the title for the past three years but was showing flu-like symptoms from early in match.
The handicap championship was won by 15-year-old Lauren Watson, who plays off five at Deeside. She beat Jasmine Mackintosh (Hazlehead), who was receiving three shots, by two holes despite being three down after four holes. 
Lauren, who had been four down at one point of her morning semi-final against clubmate Fiona Sutherland, fought back well once more to square the match at the short 16th and win the last two holes for victory.

Semi-finals - Jasmine Mackintosh (Hazlehead) (8) bt Carmen Griffiths (Aboyne) (23) 4 and 3; Lauren Watson (Deeside) (5) bt Fiona Sutherland (Deeside) (16) 1 hole. 
Final - Watson bt Mackintosh 2 holes.
