RACHEL WALKER impressive USA debut
RACHEL WALKER MAKES EARLY IMPRESSION FOR OLD DOMINION
Rachel Walker from Dumfries is gunning for a top-10 finish on her debut as a freshman student at Old Dominion University, Norfolk in Virgina.
Competing in the 54-hole Golfweek Programe Challenge at Caledonian Golf Club, Pawley's Island in South Carolina, Rachel moved up from T6 to T5 with a second-round, two-over-par 73 after a first-day 72.
She is on 145, five shots behind the leader, James Madison University student Ginger Mak who has put together scores of 72 and68 for 140.
Rachel is the leading Old Dominion player in her first appearance for the college team.
New team-mates Kim Bradbury and Elizabeth Haycock, both from England, are in T16 and T22 positions respectively.
Kim has had a pair of 74s for 148 while Elizabeth has shot 76-74 for 150.
A third English player in the field of 60 is James Madison University freshman Nicola Haynes from Newcastle. She has had rounds of 78 and 76 for 154 and is currently T34.
In the team event Campbell University (578) lead from James Madison (586) with Jacksonville State (588) third and Old Dominion (593) fourth of 12.
