Alan Webster, father of Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Open Tour player Gemma, has been one of the biggest backers of the new tour for lady pros and single-figure handicap amateur girls in its inaugural season.

Alan, one of the busiest businessmen I have come across, found the time to fix up additional sponsorship for several events on the PLGC SLOT, including the events at Drumpellier and Haggs Castle.
Getting Alan's support was a big boost to Tour Director Nicola Melville and myself.
Getting Alan to talk about himself is a much more difficult task.
He says:
"My preference has alwGeays to keep a very low personal profile. Nevertheless I do congratulate both yourself and Nicola for the excellent initiative in creating the Scottish Ladies Open Tour. It is also very commendable that Paul Lawrie, Stewart Spence and Aberdeen Asset as well as the Royal and Ancient have been willing to support and sponsor the new Tour.
"I believe SLOT provides an important bridge for young aspiring lady golfers to help them transition from amateur to the professional ranks. Ladies certainly are the 'poor relations' in this sport and I am sure your support has proved invaluable this year.
"It is noticeable that a number of SLOT tour players have excelled on the LET Access tour eg Heather MacRae, Pamela Feggans, Chris de Vries and Fabienne InAlbon and you both must take great credit for this.
"Some of my observations are that while I like the format-Accommodation costs could be defrayed by say 'home-based' players helping with accommodation. In America's Symetra Tour, one way of keeping costs down is for the 'hosts to provide free accommodation'. It would also demonstrate commitment by the home-based players to help 'their tour'
"Perhaps more careful planning around key dates would encourage other 'tour' players from say England and Europe to attend
Some extreme weather conditions in April probably deterred some foreign players from returning. Perhaps more events around the supposed better weather months may improve attendance
"Perhaps a little more direct support and encouragement from SLGA would not go amiss. Playing in some SLOT events would certainly help their youngsters
"It has been my privilege to raise sponsorship from various sources this year and hope that this has encouraged not only the ladies to participate but also your main backers to continue for future years. I will continue to do what I can.
"With regards to my personal career, I have managed several significant business in the past and am currently Managing Director of Succession Wealth Management which is part of the Succession Group of companies. It is backed by a global financial services institution.
"Succession is a wealth management advisory brand currently having 60 IFA practices within its membership who are scattered throughout the UK, having c£10bn clients funds under management.
"My challenge over next 2 to 3 years is to consolidate these practices into one national wealth management business."
