GRANT FORREST FINISHES FOURTH IN BIG CALIFORNIA FIELD
Former Scottish amateur champion Grant Forrest from North Berwick, a student at San Diego University, California, finished fourth in a field of 108 at the Bill Cullum Invitational college tournament at Wood Ranch Golf Club, Simi Valley in California.
Forrest, pictured, had rounds of 71, 68 and 70 for a seven-under-par total of 209 - three strokes behind the winner, Daniel Chian (Long Beach who had scores of 72, 68 and 66 for 10-under 206.
San Diego (850) were pipped by CSU-Fullerton (849) by a single shot for the team title contested by 20 squads.
The par-72 course measured 6,819yd
LAWRENCE ALLAN JUST OUTSIDE TOP
TEN AT SQUIRE CREEK, LOUISIANA
Lawrence Allan from Alva, a student at Southeastern Louisiana University, finished joint 11th in a field of 66 at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate tournament at Squire Creek, Choudrant, Louisiana.
Allan, pictured left, had rounds of 77, 75 and 67 - his last score was the joint best of the last day - for a three-over total of 219, 11 strokes behind the winner Gonzala Rubio (North Texas)who shot 69, 67 and 71 to win by two strokes with a total of eight-under 208 over a par-72 course of 7,105yd.
Allan's Scottish team-mate, Eamon Bradley from Coatbridge, finished joint 38th on 228 (78-72-78).
Southeastern Louisiana (871) finished runners-up to team title winners Southern Mississippi (867) in a field of 12 teams.
