ABI LAKER FINISHES THIRD AT TULAS
Abigail Laker (Arksansas State University), a sophomore student from Oxfordshire, finished third in the Bob Hurley Shootout college tournament over three rounds at Meadowbrook Country Club, Tulsa in Oklahoma.
Abi, pictured left, shot 74, 75 and 74 for an aggregate of 223 over the par-71 course of 6,128yd.
It was Laker's fourth top-five finish in America, her record also including a victory in 2012.
She finished seven shots behind the winner, Sofie Kvanstrom (Arkansas-Little Rock) (74-74-68) but only one shot behind the runner-up Vanessa Johnson (Texas A and M Corpus Christi) (75-74-73).
Megan Garland, also an Arkansas State team member, from Goole, Yorkshire, finished T5 on 225 with rounds of 74, 77 and 74.
In a field of 90 players, Katie Reid (Arkansas-Little Rock) from Dundee finished T77 on 248 with scores of 81, 85 and 82.
SIAN EVANS MAKES TOP TEN AT OLD WAVERLY
Former Kent county champion Sian Evans, pictured right, was the highest placed finisher of the four British students in the Old Waverly Bulldog Invite tournament at Old Waverly Golf Club, West Point, Mississippi.
Sian, a student at East Tennessee State University, shot rounds of 72, 72 and 74 for a total of two-over-par 218 over a par-72 course of 6,113yd.
She finished in joint 10th place behind the two Mississippi State players who finished first and second - Ally McDonald (67-73-67) on nine-under 207 and Jessia Peng (69-70-69) on 208.
Meghan MacLaren (Florida International) from Wellingborough came joint 17th in the field of 60. She scored 74, 73 and 73 for 220.
Melissa Siviter (Georgia State) from the West Midlands shot 77-75-71 for 223 and a share of 21st place.
Sophie Godley (Florida International) from Notts had scores of 75, 78 and 78 for 231 and a shared of 41st place.
Mississippi State (844) had a runaway win the team event with East Carolina (865) finished second, Georgia State (876) third, Florida International (884) fourth and East Tennessee State (889) fifth of 11.
Lamar (899) won the team title ahead of Oral Roberts (913) with Arkansas State (914) third and Arkansas-Little Rock (920) fourth of 18 teams.
JULIE YANG FINISHES SECOND AT WINDY CITY
Former Scottish schoolgirls champion Julie Yang while she was a pupil at Loretto School is now a student at Oklahoma State University.
Julie, pictured right, who also won the Welsh women's open strokeplay during her great season in 2010, finished second, beaten by two shots, in a field of 81 players at the Windy City College Championship at Northmoore Country Club, Highland Park, Illinois.
Julie shot rounds of 69, 69 and 72 for a total of 210 over the par-71 course of 6,108yd.
She finished two shots behind the winner, Lindsey Weaver (Arizona) who had scores of 70, 69 and 69 for five-under 208.
Southern California (853) took the team honours, followed by Oklahoma State (855). Arizona and Stanford tied for third place on 857 in a field of 15 teams.
PHOEBE CIPA MAKES TOP 25 AT AUSTIN
Phoebe Cipa from Upminster, a student Grand Canyon University, Arizona, finished T25 in a field of 61 players at the Challenge at Omon Creek, Austin in Texas.
Phoebe shot 73, 75 and 78 for 226 and a share of 25th place over a par-70 course of 5,885yd.
Elin Arvidsson (Texas Tech) was the winner with scores of 72-67 and 69 for 208. She finished four strokes ahead of runner-up and team-mate, Kimmy Hill (72-73-67).
Texas Tech, as you would expect after that, won the team event, but only by three shots from runners-up Miami. Grand Canyon (911) finished eight of 11.
SCOT KRISTY 14th IN ONE-ROUNDER IN S CAROLINA
Paisley-born Kirsty Condon, a student at Radford University, finished 14th in a field of 23 players at the Conference Preview 18-hole event at The Patriot Club, Ninety Six, South Carolina.
Over a par-72 course of 6156yd, Kirsty shot a 79.
Winner was Pilar Morgan (Gardner-Webb) with a one-under 71, winning by a single shot from Margaret Suchan (High Poiint).
Campbell (299) won the team title by 10 strokes behind joint runners-up Gardner-Webb and High Point. Radford finished fourth.
LATER NEWS: Kirsty Condon finished T32 in a field of 71 players at the CSUWendy's Invitational at Rivertowne CC, Charleston, South Carolina. In high winds, Kirsty scored 79, 75 and 83 for 237.
Winner by three strokes was Laura Fuenfstueck (College of Charleston) with 68-71-76 for 215
DUNNE MAKES TOP 20 AT JERRY PATE NATIONAL
Paul Dunne from Greystones, Ireland, a junior (third year) student at Alabama-Birmingham, finished T18 in a field of 60 players at this week's Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate tournament over 54 holes at Old Overton Club, Old Overton, Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
Dunne, pictured below, shot a tidy collection of scores - 72, 73 and 70 for 215 - but, over a par-70 course of 7,204yd - he finished 13 shots adrift of the winner, senior team-mate Wilson McDonald who had rounds of 65, 67 and 70 for eight-under 202. He won by three shots.
Alabama (829) won the team title by a comfortable margin from Texas A and M (845) with Alabama-Birmingham (846) third of 12.
