CAMERON YOUNG, LINNEA STROM WIN POILO JUNIOR CLASSIC TITLES

Cameron Young and Linnea Strom won the respective final matches at the Polo Golf Junior Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida today.
Young defeated Jorge Garcia 5 and 4, in the boys' final while Strom held off Lakareber Abe for a one-hole victory in the girls' final.
After Young and Garcia halved the opening hole of their match, Young took the lead with a birdie at No. 2. He didn't lose a hole all match, and closed out the win with birdie at the par-4 14th hole.
Young's victory comes in just the second American Junior Golf Association start of his career. He tied for 20th at the Junior Players in September.
“This is probably the best field I’ve ever played against – the most concentrated junior field in the world,” Young said. “Beating the kids I did in Brad Dalke, Andy Zhang and Jorge [Garcia] today . . . I even surprised myself.”
Like Young, Strom never trailed in her match. The Sweden native birdied her opening hole to take the early lead. She was five up at the turn.
Abe, an Alabama University signee, won hole Nos. 13-15 with pars and was back to one down with three to play. But three halves to close allowed Strom to hang on for the victory.
“I was very nervous the entire round,” Strom said. “Even when I was five up after nine holes, I just tried to focus on my own game. She (Abe) started to play well and I made some bogeys, but I just wanted to win so much.”
