DOMINIC AND AMY TOP OF CLASS AT STUDENTS' TOUR EVENT

Dominic Moon (Sheffield Hallam University) and Amy Chambers (St Andrews University) were the surpise individual winners of the latest BUCS Student Tour 36-hole event after a very windy, stormy weekend at the Torrance Course, Fairmont St Andrews.
Both the men's and women's competitions produced exceptionally tight finishes.
In the latter, it was local talent all the way with St Andrews University students taking four of the top five spaces.
Overnight leader Gabrielle MacDonald was unable to maintain the clear-cut advantage she had gained with a  six-under-par 68 in the first round. Her second-round 80 for 148  was equalled by St Andrews team-mate Amy Chambers who added a 75 to her opening 73.
Amy, who is Irish and a member of Dunfanaghy Golf Club, Donegal,  was declared the winner by virtue of having the better second round.
Ailsa Summers made it a St Andrews 1-2-3 in the women's event with an aggregate of 149 (71-78).

In the men's competition, the usual Stirling dominance was disrupted by a player from across the Border. Rotherham Golf Club member  Dominic Moon (Sheffield Hallam), joint overnight leader with Irish close champion Cormac Sharvin (Stirling) and Scottish amateur champion Zander Culverwell (Stirling) on 71, prevailed with a 78 for 149 - one shot ahead of Sharvin who had a 79 for 150.
Culverwell was blown away to an 84 for 155 and joint sixth place.
Craig Chalmers (Strathclyde) filled third place on 151 (75-76).
Stirling's Sharvin, Culverwell, Henry Tomlinson and Craig Howie won the team event with  Chambers, Macdonald and Summers capturing the women's team title for St Andrews.
