Grant Forrest, the 2012 Scottish amateur champion from North Berwick, returned an eight-under-par, 54-hole aggregate in San Diego University's last US college circuit competition of the year - but that was good enough only to earn him a share of 11th place in a field of 93 players.
The scoring was remarkably low in the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational at the Princeville Makai course at Kauai, Hawaii. Despite the length of the course, 7,223yd with a par of 72, the leading 46 players all finished the three-round event under par and the team title winners are an amazing 41 under par - and won by one stroke!
Forrest shot rounds of 69, 70 and 69 for 208, finishing seven shots behind the three leaders who tied for first place on 15 under par 201. Mark Anguiano (Fullerton University) (65-66-70) won the sudden death play-off at the first extra hole against Chad Ramey (Mississippi State) (63-68-70) and Robert Geibel (Louisville) (67-67-67).
Fullerton also won the team title with an exceptionally low total of 41 under par 822 - but only by a single shot from Louisville. San Diego (852) tied for 10th place in a field of 17 teams.
