SCOTS SMAIL, MACNEAL IN THE MIX AT GULF SHORES, ALABAMA

Three Scottish students at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Greg Smail from Musselburgh, Ayrshire's Charlie Macneal and Calum Hill from North Berwick, finished ninth, joint 10th and 56th in a field of 73 players at the ASU Fall Beach Classic college touornament at Peninsula Golf Club, Gulf Shores, Alabama on Tuesday.
Smail, pictured right, shot 73-70-75 for a two-over-par total of 218 over a 6,964yd course.
MacNeal had scores of 73, 76 and 70 for 219 while freshman Hill shot 76, 78 and 80 for 234.
Winner by two shots with a six-under total of 210 was Esteban Castro (Western Florida) (71-69-70).
Western Florida (868) also won the team title ahead of Louisiana Monroe (876) in a field of 12 teams.

ALLAN JUST OUTSIDE TOP 10 AT JACKSONVILLE

Lawrence Allan from Alva and Eamon Bradley from Coatbridge, both students at Southeastern Louisiana University, finished joint 11th and 42nd respectively in the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate tournament which also finished on Tuesday at Deerwood Country Club, Jacksonville in Florida.
Allan (pictured right) shot 71-76-75 for six-over 222 over a longish par-72 course of 7,261yd.
Bradley had rounds of 82, 71 and 76 for 229.
Sam Towler (Georgia Southern), a freshman student from Surrey, finished T59 on 233 with scores of 78, 78 and 77.
