FIONA AND SAMMY HAVE NIGHTMARE DAY ON FLORIDA GREENS
Scotland's Fiona Liddell and England's Samantha (Sammy) Fuller both had a nightmare putting day in the third round of the Junior Orange Bowl girls' championship at Biltmore Golf Club, Coral Gables in Florida today.
The pair of GB and I Junior Vagliano Trophy team-mates each required 79 shots - eight over par - with most of them putts on grainy and often sloping greens.
Liddell had seven three-putts while Sammy's woes on the green were underlined as early as the second hole where the four-putted from little more than 6ft from the hole.
Fiona's dad Stephen, a club pro in Germany, said: "It was the worst putting display I have seen from two good players."
Fuller is in 19th place on 17-over-par 230, having had earlier rounds of 80 and 71, while Liddell is in 21st place in a field of 38 girls. Her total after 54 holes is 19-over 232 after earlier rounds of 78 and 75.
Both girls arrived at the Junior Orange Bowl having enjoyed some success in other Florida tournaments this month. Fuller won her age group in the Junior Honda Classic for the fourth year in a row. Liddell won the Under-16 to 18 girls' title in the same event at Doral Golf Club, Miami.
