Germany-based Scot Fiona Liddell leads by six shots at the halfway stage of the Junior Honda Classic 36-hole girls' 16-18 years section at PGA National Golf Club, Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.
Fiona, whose father, Falkirk-born Stephen Liddell, is club pro at Schloss Vornholz in Germany, played for GB and I in the Junior Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe at Chantilly, France last June.
She shot a two-over-par 74 in the first round over the Fazio Course at PGA National. Her nearest rivals are two girls on 80.
Said father Stephen who is over there:
"It was an amazing score in 30 mph winds and the course for the girls was off the tees at 6,300yd.
"Sammy Fuller shot 77 in the 14 to 15 years age group and is lying second in that category. Their course is 5,700yd."
Fiona, winner of the German Under-16 girls' title earlier this year, is on her way to play in the Junior Orange Bowl at the Biltmore Course, Coral Gable, Florida from December 27 to 30.
