INVERALLOCHY GOLF CLUB APPOINT A LADY AS OVERALL CLUB CAPTAIN
By COLIN FARQUHARSON

There are not all that many lady members of golf clubs, certainly in Scotland, who are club captains. By that I mean captain of the joint membership of men and women.
The most recent addition to the short list is Fiona Byiers, recently appointed overall club captain at Inverallochy Gollf Club, south of Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire.
Fiona Byiers, pictured, was born in Galashiels and educated there before moving to Methlick for her senior education. Fiona is married to Neil and they have two sons, Colin and Craig and a granddaughter, Stephanie, aged 3.
Fiona started golf at Longside and joined Inverallochy in 1999; She has a handicap of 22 and has been Ladies Captain at Inverallochyt 2004-2006, 2008-2010 and again in 2013.
Inverallochy member George Young, who is secretary of the North-east District of the Scottish Golf Union, commented:
"With the Equality Act and the ongoing move towards the malgamation of the SGU and Scottish Ladies Golf Association it was only right that we at Inverallochy accept Fiona's nomination for Club Captain."
+If your golf club has a woman/lady as overall club captain, E-mail the information to Colin@scottishgolfview.com with a picture of her, if possible.
