OMEGA DUBAI LADIES MASTERS CHALLENGE MATCH ON MONDAY
FROM THE LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR WEBSITE
Maha Haddioui, the first Arab woman to earn full playing privileges on the Ladies European Tour, is paired with world number three Stacy Lewis from the United States in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Challenge Match to be held at Emirates Golf Club par-3 course on Monday, December 2.
Seasoned Laura Davies, who is also a 'Golf in Dubai’ ambassador, will team up with Spain’s Carlota Ciganda while the pairing of world number four Shanshan Feng of China and the rising LPGA star Pornanong Phatlum of Thailand completes the line-up for the match which showcases marquee players competing in the season-ending Ladies European Tour event.
The fun-filled event, which follows the greensomes format, will provide spectators with an opportunity to see the game's biggest stars up close and personal. Entry to the match is free and fans will be allowed to carry cameras.
Starting at 6pm, the match will be followed by a gala dinner reception, highlighted by a series of entertaining events. The players, representatives of the sponsors and invited guests can also bid for exclusive sports memorabilia during a live auction to benefit Breast Cancer Arabia Foundation.
‘Golf in Dubai,’ the promoters and organisers of the event, have made elaborate arrangements to ensure fans enjoy the proceedings on all four days of the main tournament, starting on December 4.
A giant TV screen has been installed in the 'public village' for them to catch up live action. Different food and beverage outlets, fun games for children and free golf clinics will further add to the carnival-like atmosphere at the village.
"We would like to encourage more and more golf fans to come to Emirates Golf Club and cheer top professional lady golfers who would be displaying their classic swing," said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of 'Golf in Dubai.
"Once again we have a great star cast for the event with top-draws from the Ladies European Tour joining some of the leading LPGA players. With so many big names in the field, fans can expect first class entertainment.”
Challenge match pairings:
Team 1: Stacy Lewis and Maha Haddioui
Team 2: Laura Davies (England) and Carlota Ciganda (Spain)
Team 3: Shanshan Feng (China) and Pornanong Phatlum (Thailand).
