SCOTS TALK TO BETHAN CUTLER ON EVE OF FINAL Q SCHOOL IN MOROCCO
The modern style clubhouse at Al Maaden, Marrakech, Morocco
Bethan
Culter, Media Manager of the Ladies European Tour, has been speaking to
some of the seven Scots who tackle the five-round Final Qualifying
School at two Marrakech, Morocco courses, starting on Saturday.
Here's what they had to say:
from Glasgow
What is your mindset?
I’ve
just got to go out there and play golf really and play your best:
that’s all you can do. Everyone is here for the same reason, so it’s
pretty exciting.
How is your game?
I’d
say it’s probably peaking at the right time. I haven’t played all that
well all year but got through from the Pre-qualifying four-rounder at Rabat, which was probably the
most stressful, so I feel a bit of weight off my shoulders.
What are your thoughts on the Samanah and Al Maaden golf courses?
I
played Final Qualifying last year so I know Al Maaden.
The greens are a little tricky
but apart from that it’s going to be fun and I think the scores are
going to be low.
How have you prepared?
I’ve
been playing the Access Series and the Scottish Open Ladies Tour run by
Nicola Melville and Colin Farquharson also so that’s helped to fill
in the gaps. It’s sponsored by the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre and it’s been really good.
Some girls have come
from the Continent to play on it.
My goal is to get my full card so I can have a full year of planning.
MICHELE THOMSON
I
played this summer on the LET Access Series events and I had a month off
because I wanted to prepare for the Tour School, working with my coach.
I’ve been doing some gym work. I went to Pre-Q School last week and
didn’t have a very good
first two rounds but the last two rounds were the best that I’ve played
this year. I’ve come here hoping to play well and we’ll see.
I
had my card in 2009 and then had a three-year break where I didn’t play
golf at all. I joined the police and then decided that I wanted to come
back to golf and give it a go. It’s worked out so far so we’ll see how it goes
this weekend
KELSEY MacDONALD
I
played in Turkey two weeks ago so I’ve done all my preparation and it
was great to get into the Final Q School field through the LET Access Series. I’ve done
all that I can to prepare and I’ll just take every shot at a time,
embrace it and enjoy the
week and hopefully it goes to plan.
I
was in contention a few times and had a couple of top ten finishes so it
was a really good half- season for me after turning pro in May.
I
was here in Morocco as an amateur last year and just missed out on the last day. I
love the courses, both Samanah and Al Maaden, so I feel quite at home.
