HANNAH GREEN GOES THREE CLEAR IN LAKE MACQUARIE WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
LAKE MACQUARIE NEWS RELEASE
In almost perfect conditions, only eight players managed par or better in the third round of the Lake MacQuarie women's amateur 72-hole stroke-play championship at Belmont Golf Club, New South Wales, Australia today.
Overnight leader Hannah Green, after opening her campaign with a course-record 68, followed up with a one under par 72 including four birdies for a three round total of five-under-par 214, three shots clear of Jenny Lee who also shot four-birdie 72 for 217.
They are the only two players under par after three rounds.
Spanish stroke-play champion Luna Sobron shot her third consecutive par round of 73 to sit in third position on 219, a stroke ahead of another Spanish player, Natalia Escuriola, who had the best round of the day, a three-under 70, including five birdies, for fourth place on her own.
Singaporean Charlotte Thomas, the English women's mid-amateur champion, with a par round of 73, sits alone in fifth place on 222 while Anna Stanton from Queensland shot five birdies on her way to a 71 to share sixth spot on 224 with Kelli Bowers from the US.
Unfortunately Elizabeth Elmassion had a horror stretch through twelve, thirteen and fourteen dropping five shots for a four over 77 and a 54-hole tally of 225, 11 shots off the pace with only one round to go, on Friday.
