AMERICAN 1-2 FINISH AT LPGA BAHAMAS CLASSIC
Jessica Korda birdies pip Stacy Lewis
Stacy Lewis, the Ricoh Women's British Open champion - at St Andrews last summer, led the field with only a few holes to play in the LPGA Bahamas Classic.
But fellow American Jessica Korda birdied the 15th, 17th and 18th - eight birdies, one bogey in all - for a closing, tournament-winning final round of seven-under-par 66 and an aggregate of 19-under 273.
Korda, for whom the winner's purse amounted to $195,000 (compared with $1million + by the winner on the US PGA Tour event in California),
had only 27 putts on her final circuit
Lewis came out of the traps like a greyhound, birdieing six of the first eight holes. She bogeyed the ninth but was out in 31 and birdies seven and eight at the 11th and 14th holes had her in the pole position.
But Stacy could not birdie any of the last four holes and finished with the same score, 66, as Korda but a one higher total of 274. Lewis's pay slip amounted to $120,655.
