JONES DOHERTY CHALLENGE CUP MATCH-PLAY
THREE SCOTS FALL IN FLORIDA ROUND 2
No. 4 seed Hannah McCook (Stirling University and Grantown on Spey GC) was beaten today in the second round of the Orange Blossom Tour's final individual event, the Jones-Doherty Challenge Cup match-play tournament at Coral Ridge Country Club, Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
Hannah lost by 2 and 1 to Connie Isler from Florida, the 13th qualifier for the match-play stages.
England 17-year-old international Annabel Dimmock (Wentworth), who is travelling with the Stirling University party and who was runner-up at the weekend in the South Atlantic Amateur Ladies Championship, qualified in fifth place at Coral Ridge and she is through to the quarter-finals.
Annabel beat American Julie Carmichael by 6 and 4 and now plays Hannah McCook's conqueror for a place in the semi-finals.
A second English player in the last eight is GB women's hockey team bronze medallist at last summer's Olympic Games, Chloe Rogers from Braintree, Essex.
Chloe, the No 6 seed, won by 4 and 3 against Claudia De Antonio and now plays the No 3 seed, Isabella DiLisio who beat Stirling student Tara Mactaggart (Minto) by 3 and 2 in the second round.
The most dangerous "floater" in the draw, i.e. not seeded to reach the quarter-finals, is No 10 seed Meghan Stasi, who played as Meghan Bolger for the winning USA team in the 2008 Curtis Cup match over the Old Course, St Andrews and who won the Harder Hall Invitational by a useful margin earlier in the month.
Stasi won by 5 and 4 against No 7 seed Carolina Garrett and now plays the No 2 seed Brittany Fan who was a 2 and 1 winner over Isabelle Lendl, one of the daughters of Andy Murray's tennis coach, Ivan Lendl.
Stirling student Jordana Graham from Southerness, the No 9 seed, lost by 5 and 3 to the No 8 qualifier Ashley Malinchak who now plays the leading qualifier, Florida teenager Marisa Messana.
