KYLIE WALKER ACHIEVES TOP 10 FINISH IN NSW OPEN

Klatten fires course record 63 to win

Joanna Klatten
Frenchwoman Joanna Klatten fired a dazzling course record nine-under-par 63 closing round to win the Bing Lee Fujitsu General Women's NSW Open by three strokes.
The 28-year-old, who finished at 16-under-par, made nine birdies in a flawless display around on the Oatlands golf course, Sydney to triumph from Canberra's Nikki Campbell (66) with England's Hannah Burke (68) and South Australian Stephanie Na (70) a shot further back in a tie for third.
Klatten opened strongly with five birdies on the front nine and also finished the victory in style with birdies at the 17th and 18th holes.
It was her second 54-hole professional victory and both have come in Australia, the other at the 2012 Victorian Women's Open.
Klatten's triumph followed a good season on the Ladies European Tour where she was 13th on the money list last year and had three top-10 finishes.
When asked about her round today, she responded, “It was fantastic, I have to say it was one of my best rounds of golf, ever.”
“I have shot nine-under before as an amateur but this one felt like I was in perfect control of my game and my emotions, so I am extremely happy.”
“I just played really great from tee to green, putted well, chipped well, hit almost every fairway in regulation.”
Klatten always likes to set herself a goal and if she finishes in the top three she treats herself to something. She certainly achieved that goal and will now be treating herself to dinner at her favourite restaurant in Sydney Monday night, Summer Salt in Cronulla.
This is Klatten third win this year, as she won the first two Club Car Series pro-am events in Yamba and Antill Park. Klatten now heads to New Zealand for the ISPS Handa New Zealand Women’s Open.
For Campbell, a final round of 66 wasn’t enough to secure a second ALPG victory but she very pleased with her week.
“It was really good, that was the best finish I have had in this tournament, so I was pretty happy with how I played all week, it was steady, second was a good finish.”
Minjee Lee took home the leading amateur medal. The current Australian women's amateur champion tied for fifth overall after a final round of 66 for 205 (11 under par).
Lindsey Wright, who was the overnight co-leader with Na, finished in a share of fifth place with Kristie Smith (70) and Lee.
Crowd favourite Laura Davies finished 19th at five-under-par.
SCOTSWATCH:
Kylie Walker, following up a maiden pro win in the previous ALPG event, achieved a top 10 finish with rounds of 70, 67 and 70 for nine-under 207 and a share of ninth place.
Sally Watson had her best round of the three, a four-under-68, for a total of 209 and joint 13th place.
Vikki Laing had scores of 74, 71  and 72 for joint 20th place on 212.
Scots-born amateur Chloe Goadby, a +2 amateur since she and her family moved from St Andrews to Sydney two years ago, dropped four shots to par over her last two holes: a bogey at 17, and a triple bogey 6 at the short 18th for a closing 75 and a 61st place finish - a good effort to play all three rounds by a teenager playing in her first open event alongside professionals.
