World No. 2 Suzann Pettersen, who was the highest-ranked player in the field for the LPGA's season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, has withdrawn with a slight shoulder injury.
Pettersen told GolfChannel.com in an email this morning that she is bothered by a sore shoulder and wants to give it another two weeks of rest before she opens her season in Australia.
"Once I start, I play four weeks straight," Pettersen wrote.
Pettersen pushed world No. 1 Inbee Park for the top ranking late last year, and the Norwegian is within striking distance still.
Like Pettersen, Park isn't playing the season-opener in the Bahamas.
World No. 3 Stacy Lewis, No. 4 Lydia Ko, No. 7 Na Yeon Choi and No. 9 Lexi Thompson are the highest-ranked players in the Bahamas.
