SOUTH AMERICAN WOMEN'S OPEN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
GEMMA AND OONA STILL SHARE LEAD
WITH A ROUND TO SO IN COLOMBIA
Aberdeen's Gemma Dryburgh and Oona Vartiainen (Finland) are still locked together in the lead with one round to go in the South American women's open amateur championship at windy Barranquilla Golf Club on the coast of Colombia.
Both players shot 76s in today's third round for 54-hole tallies of 10-over-par 226 - that reflects just how windy it has been at this venue.
Gemma's dad John reports:
"Gemma finished bogey-par-double bogey. She just ran out of energy between the extreme sun and the long time from eating at 11am to finishing at 5pm. Thankfully they are playing in the morning on Saturday so less time in the mid day sun.
"She's very disappointed at the moment but when she looks back she's still shares the lead and still got as good a chance to win as any."
The two leaders are two shots ahead of Argentina's Avelen Irizar and Peru's Lucia Gutierrez, both on 228 after each scored par 72s in the third round, very good scoring in the conditions.
St Andrews University student Gemma Bradbury, a full Welsh international is the second best placed of the players in an international field sponsored by the R and A.
She has scored 81, 78 and 78 for 237 and is a shot ahead of Ireland's Chloe Ryan (77-86-75).
Scottish champion Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) has struggled with her game in the winds. She is 26th in a field of 50 with rounds of 78, 86 and 80 for 244.
