SUNCOAST SERIES LADY PRO TOUR 54-HOLE TOURNAMENT

GINGER LEADS BY TWO IN FLORIDA

Ginger Howard, the first African-American  golfer to play for the United States in the Junior Ryder Cup - at Gleneagles in 2010, has taken a two-stroke lead with one round to go in the SunCoast Series lady pro tour 54-hole tournament at West Orange County Golf Club, Winter Gardens in Florida.

Ginger, pictured, will be 20 on March 15 and is warming up for the 2014 Symetra Tour.
She shot a tournament low of three-under-par 68, a shot better than Monday, to lead with five-under 137 over the par-71 lay-out.
Howard, based at Bradenton, Florida,  birdied the third, fourth and fifth and turned in threeunder 33. She got her fourth birdie at the 10th but then dropped a shot at the short 11th before birdie No 5 at the 16th and a bogey at 18.
Louise Friberg, a former winner on the LPGA Tour from Sweden, is in second place on 139 (70-69). Louise gave up the competitive side of golf at the age of 31 but is now making a comeback with batteries recharged.
Canadian amateur champion and "The Sally" winner on the Orange Blossom Tour a couple of weeks ago, 16-year-old Brooke Mackenzie Henderson, is in third place on 141 (71-70).
