JAMES ROSS MAKES TOP TEN AND HELPS
HOUSTON TO WIN TEAM TITLE
Royal Burgess Golf Society, Edinburgh member James Ross, a 6ft 4in final-year student at Houston University, Texas, finished joint 10th in a field of 212 and helped his college to win the team title at the Bayou City Collegiate tournament over 54 holes at the Golf Club of Houston, Humble in Texas.
Ross, pictured, shot steady rounds of 72, 69 and 71 for a four-under-par total of 212 over the 6,907yd, par-72 lay-out.
He finished eight shots behind his winning Houston team-mate Roman Robledo who had scores of 69-69-66 for 12-under-par total of 204 and a five-shot victory from Kramer Hickok (Texas) (71-70-68), Victor Lange (Louisiana Tech) (71-67-71) and Wesley McLain (Houston) 68-69-72.
Houston (833) won the team title ahead of Texas (8410, South Carolina (851) and Arkansas (855) in a field of 15 teams.
