GERTIE McMULLEN TIES FOR FOURTH PLACE AT LAS PALMAS
3-WAY PLAY-OFF FOR SENIOR TITLE
Ireland's Sheena McElroy, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, was beaten in a three-way play-off for the Spanish senior women's open amateur individual championship at Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas last week.
Sheena (75-78) tied on 153 with Maria Castillo (75-78), a native of the Canary Islands. and another Spanish player, Maria Orueta (76-77).
The sudden-death play-off started - and finished - at the par-5 16th hole which Castillo birdied to win the title.
Another Irish player, Gertie McMullen, tied for fourth place on 155 with scores of 81-74. Also on this mark were Spain's Mar Corlostegui (81-74) and Macarena Campomanes (78-77).

+England's Margaret Ruth Lindley finished 44th on 179 with scores of 91-88.
Victory in the individual event for the over-50s, completed a Spanish senior title double for Maria Castillo as she and Marta Estany won the Spanish senior women's amateur doubles championship at the same venue earlier in the week.
They had scores of 70 and 82 for 153 - a shot ahead of compatriots Macarena Campomanes and Isabel Dumat who shot 72-81 for 153.
Ireland's Kate Evans and Gertie McMullen finished seventh on 158 (73-85).
Pat Doran and Sheena McElroy (76-84) finished ninth on 160.
Valerie Hassett and Val Shannon (81-93) finished T21 in a field of 40 pairs. Their total was 174.
On 177 and sharing 23rd place were England's Margaret Ruth Lindley and Laraine Hague (82-95).
