BEN TAYLOR JT 7th FINISH AT PGA WEST
Ben Taylor, pictured, from Leatherhead, a junior (third year) student at Louisiana State University, finished joint seventh in a field of 66 players at The Prestige @ PGA West college tournament over the Greg Norman course at PGA West, La Quinta in sunny California.
Ben had rounds of 74, 68 and 67 for a four-under-par total of 209 over the testing par-71 course of 7,070yd.
Winner was Patrick Rodgers (Stanford) with scores of 65, 68 and 71 for nine-under 204. He won by a single shot.
Stanford University - Tiger Woods' alma mater - also won the team event by two shots from Washington (833) with UCLA (841) third and Louisiana State (846) fourth of 11 teams.
SAM DE'ATH SIXTH @ START 2 FINISH
Sam De'Ath (Webber International, a freshman from Fleet, finished a creditable sixth in a field of
56 players at the 10th Annual Start 2 Finish college tournament at Lake Wales Country Club, Florida.
Sam (pictured left) shot 72, 75 and 79 for 226 over a par-72 course of 6,821yd.
Warner University, who won the team title as well, produced a 1-2 in the individual tournament. Daniel Bova (73-72-76 for 221) won by a shot from team-mate Jake Levens (73-74-75).
Cameron Doogan, a freshman from Buckinghamshire, gave Warner University a third player in the top 10. He finished joint eighth on 228 with scores of 82, 73 and 73.
Matthew Basey from Bristol, a sophomore student at Webber International, finished T17 on 213 with scores of 75, 82 and 74.
Team-mates James Holt (235), Jack Robinson (237) and Nicholas Cox (248) finished T23, T30 and T45 respectively.
Holt, a sophomore from Manchester, shot 77-78-80; Robinson, a sophomore from London, 79-80-78 and Cox, a sophomore from Essex, 78-85-85.
Warner University, who won their last event of the first half of the 2013-2014 college golf season, made it back to back victories.
