MEN'S TOURNAMENT ROUND-UP FROM US COLLEGE SCENE
MITCH FARRER FINISHES JT 3RD IN
ARMSTRONG PIRATE TOURNAMENT
Mitch Farrer, from West Sussex, a final-year student at Nova Southeastern University, finished joint third in a field of 90 players at this week's Armstrong Pirate men's invitational college 54-hole tournament at Savannah Quarters Country Club, Georgia.
Farrer, pictured, had rounds of 72, 68 and 71 for a two-under par total of 211 over the par-71, 6,897yd course.
Scots Paul McPhee from Perth and Matthew Reid finished T50 and T63 respectively.
McPhee, a final-year student at Lynn University, had scores of 76, 76 and 79 for 231 while Reid totalled 234 with scores of 75, 83 and 76.
A third Scot in the field, Cameron Buist from Stirlingshire, a freshman at Belmont Abbey College, finished 77th with scores of 81, 75 and 84 for 240.
Individual winner was Fredrik Lindblom (Clayton State) with scores of 6, 73 and 68 for four-under 209.
Nova Southeastern (857) won the team title by a single stroke from Armstrong with Lynn (863) third in a field of 17 teams.
EARNSHAW JT 12th AT IRISH CREEK
Ross Earnshaw from York, a final-year student at Post University, finished joint 12th in a field of 89 players at the Irish Creek Collegiate 36-hole tournament at The Club of Irish Creek, Concord, North Carolina.
Ross shot 77-70 for five-over-par total of 147 over a par-71, 7,099yd course.
Richard Mansell (Newberry College), a freshman from Staffordshire, finished T21 on 150 (75-75)
Taylor Inouye (Belmont Abbey), a senior from Surrey, finished T45 on 156 with scores of 77-79.
Thomas Rowland (Charlotte) (70-73) and John White (Lenoir-Rhyne) 72-71 tied for individual honours on 143.
Newberry (586) won by three shots from three teams on 589 - Barton, Erksine and Limestone.
